TELIA: port steel terminal
The Liverpool Steel Terminal had space and inventory challenges and it appeared that a new terminal would be needed. TELIA optimization and automation increased capacity by 80 per cent, freeing up room for new commodities to be handled. Moveable coil bunks created flexible zones in the terminal that are dynamic and demand-driven. Coils are now safely stacked three-high and the automated portion of the facility operates damage free. The port can now discharge a ship faster and with 100 per cent inventory accuracy. The planned new terminal is no longer required.
